Florida Licensure Guide - Facial Specialist
Organized instructions for FAMA graduates applying through Florida DBPR.
1. What you need
Have these items ready before (or while) you start your DBPR application:
- FAMA 4-Hour HIV Certificate.
- FAMA Skincare Diploma: minimum 220 hours.
- FAMA Transcripts.
- DBPR application fee: $75.00
- Certificate of Eligibility (Section IV): submitted by FAMA after you start the application and receive your DBPR application number.
2. How to apply
Step 1: Complete your Exit Interview + graduation requirements
- Finish all classes and graduation requirements.
- Receive your graduation documents from FAMA (HIV certificate, diploma, transcripts).
- Start your DBPR application so you can obtain your DBPR application number.
Students must contact FAMA Student Services with their DBPR application number so that we can attach
“Section IV” to your application. Please do so by replying to the FAMA email you received with your graduation
instructions. Finally, once the Board of Cosmetology verifies your documents, including any documents provided
by FAMA, you will receive an email with your license attached as a PDF document.
Step 2: Submit your DBPR application (Facial Specialist Registration - COSMO 1)
- Go to myfloridalicense.com and select Apply for a License.
- Choose Cosmetology > Facial Specialist Registration (COSMO 1).
- Apply online (recommended) and create a DBPR account, or print a paper application.
- Complete the application carefully, pay the $75.00 fee, and upload your required documents.
- After you receive your application number, send it to FAMA Student Services so we can attach Section IV.
3. How to renew your license
Renewal requirement:
- 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
- Contact FAMA when the time comes for guidance and continuing education options.
